This web-portal – Work In Progress – is an offshoot of Github project CashPlus-Portfolio that aims to promote index investing over active portfolio management. Trading history of an investor is plotted as “Cash plus NAV of the portfolio” and compared against a hypothetical scenario of investing only in an index (or a benchmark ETF). Over sufficiently long time, accounting for trading fees, capital gains taxes, interest earned/lost on idle cash, etc. you will quickly see that index investing gives:
- better returns
- and/or, lower volatility
- and/or, better diversification
besides saving you the time and effort spent in researching stocks and trading them at the right time. We hope this will catalyze a shift towards plain index investing, and discourage expensive active trading or portfolio management services. Watch the 60 second video below, summarizing the concept.
